AFTER several years engaging with Irish Water and ongoing calls for urgent action, Fine Gael councillor Daniel Butler sent out a warm welcome following news of the commencement of remedial roadworks on the Greenfields Road.

The works, which commenced on Tuesday May 6, are set to continue until Friday May 16. The works, Cllr Butler explained, will be ongoing daily from 7am to 7pm.

A traffic management operation will be in effect at Greenfields throughout the duration of the works to ensure safety and minimise disruption. Road users are advised to plan accordingly and follow all signage and directions on site.

Cllr Butler pointed out that this long-awaited development follows persistent efforts to address the deteriorating condition of the road, which has caused significant inconvenience to both residents and daily commuters.

“While the process has been slow and, at times, frustrating, the commencement of these works marks an important step toward resolving the issue once and for all,” he told the Limerick Post.

“I know how difficult this has been for those living in or traveling through the area. I want to thank residents and commuters for their patience and perseverance during what has been a prolonged and challenging period. I am relieved and glad to see meaningful action finally taking place.”

The City West representative went on to say that “after some false dawns, I still remain vigilant and cautious but committed to ensuring that this project is completed efficiently and will continue to monitor progress closely”.
