THE CHALKY dust of a century of education is about to settle for good on a Limerick school which has opened the minds of generations.
And before the buildings themselves are taken down, the school is inviting everyone who has treasured memories of Ardscoil Mhuire in Corbally to come back to say goodbye.
While it was initially located in Bishop Street, the school relocated to its current location in Corbally in 1977. The school is now about to embark on another major adventure.
The school will be relocating to temporary accommodation over the summer break, with the existing buildings set to be demolished and replaced by a multimillion euro state of the art school campus.
To mark the end of an era, the school is welcoming back itsย school community past and present.
“The opening up of the school to this wonderful community will afford us all the chance to walk down memory lane, share our memories, and catch up with friends from the past and present,” principal Ms Brรญd Herbert said.
“As a past student, now principal, I’m lucky to have daily reminders of my time as part of this wonderful school community. Therefore, I’m proud to open up our current school building, one last time, for those who wish to join us in reflecting on their own treasured school memories.”
The school will be open to the community from 12.00pm to 3.00pm on Saturday May 17 2025.
“We would love to see you there,” Ms Herbert said.
