GARDAÍ in Limerick are looking to clamp down on e-scooters speeding throughout the county.

Members of the Limerick Divisional Roads Policing Unit have in recent weeks been trained in the use of a dynameter – a device that measures the maximum speed of e-scooters.

Last year saw the introduction of e-scooter regulations, including the maximum speed of 20km/h, as well as mandate-specific lighting and braking features.

“An Garda Síochána is currently testing the use of mobile dynamometers as part of a broader enforcement strategy.

Our Roads Policing Units will actively check compliance on streets and roads throughout the Limerick Division to ensure safety for all road users,” a Garda spokeswoman said.
