Gardaí investigating fighting in city after Limerick vs Cork hurling clash

GARDAÍ attended the scenes of an incident of alleged criminal damage and a number of alleged public order incidents following Limerick’s clash with Cork this past Sunday evening (May 18) in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship.

Fans can be seen fighting and engaging in violent behaviour in a video that has already been widely circulated on social media.

A Garda spokeswoman told this newspaper that Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident of “criminal damage” on Thomas Street in Limerick City at approximately 8pm on Sunday evening.

Gardaí said a flare was also set off at a commercial premises in the city.

Gardaí also confirmed they received a number of reports of alleged public order incidents in Limerick city centre yesterday evening.

Enquiries are ongoing, the Garda spokeswoman said.
