AN ABANDONED horse was seized by Limerick City and County Council last week from public lands.

A statement from the local authority confirmed that a brown and white female yearling was seized from the Old Cork Road in Limerick City on May Tuesday 13.

The identity of the animal’s owner is not known to the Council.

Abandoned horses seized by the local authority are held for five days and, if not claimed by their owner or keeper, are re-homed to shelters outside of Limerick in accordance with the 1996 Control of Horses Act.
