TREATY United are doubly engaged at the weekend. First up on Friday night (7.45pm) at the Markets Field, Tommy Barrett’s Senior Men’s side host Longford Town in an important league fixture as Treaty United look to consolidate their play-off position.
Treaty beat UCD 4-0 at the venue last weekend.
“You’ve got to be happy any time that you put four past UCD who are a quality side. It was great to bounce back after the Kerry defeat although I thought the second half performance against Kerry was very good and we brought that into the UCD game. The difference was that we took our chances against UCD,” stated Barrett.
“We will look to build on that against Longford Town, start on the front foot and get the fans behind us. It won’t be easy as Longford are on their own unbeaten run lately and will be hard to break down.”
Meanwhile, Sean Russell’s Senior Women’s side turn their attention to All Island Cup action on Saturday when they travel to Lissywollen to play Athlone Town.
“We know that when we play to the best of our ability, we can cause any team problems. Athlone this week is a great test for us. They are a really good side in good form, so we are looking forward to the challenge,” Russell said.
There is a feel-good factor about the club at the moment following the signing of a long-lease agreement on the Markets Field with LEDP (Limerick Enterprise Development Partnership).
