Tidy celebrations in Patrickswell as community group turns 25

Celebrations were underway to mark the occasion in Patrickswell.

CELEBRATIONS were kept clean at the community centre in Patrickswell this past weekend, as the Patrickswell Tidy Towns team marked 25 years of neat work in the community.

The community hall was packed for the silver jubilee celebration, which was attended by members past and present of the Patrickswell Tidy Towns group, along with Mayor John Moran, Niall Collins TD, and councillors Dan McSweeney and Fergus Kilcoyne.

Representatives from a number of Patrickswell community groups were in attendance also, along with families of deceased and previous members.

ย Mayor Moran delivered an opening speech, which was followed by a video presentation by Alan Lyne of some of the groups adventures down through the years.

The Patrickswell Tidy Towns committee also presented chairperson Sam Milburn and long-serving members Marie Foley and Ann Doherty with gifts in acknowledgement of their dedication to the group, as the only three remaining founding members of the group.

Trophies and certificates of achievement from the groups 25-year history were on display for the first time at the celebration.

Chairperson Sam Milburn expressed his thanks to volunteers โ€œwho contributed so much time and effort to make our 25th anniversary celebrations such a resounding successโ€.

โ€œNot only was it a Tidy Towns celebration but a celebration of all that is good here in Patrickswell,โ€ he said.

“We extend our gratitude to the ladies from the Camogie Club, School Association, Louise and Greta and others for making sure our guests were well catered for all afternoon. Everything befitted the occasion perfectly.”
