SINN Féin Senator Joanne Collins has said the government’s “continued neglect” of community development services is eroding trust and damaging the fabric of rural communities in Limerick and throughout the country.
Speaking following the launch of the Local Development Companies Network (LDCN) Pre-Budget submission, Senator Collins said the “government is content to outsource responsibility for community services and rural supports to local development companies, while denying them the basic resources and policy clarity needed to do their work”.
“The result is stagnation, uncertainty and burn-out across the sector. Communities are being let down – not by those working on the ground, but by a government that refuses to take its responsibilities seriously.”
