Fintan Drury in conversation with Mary Costello at O’Mahony’s Booksellers

AN evening of insight and powerful discussion awaits at O’Mahony’s Booksellers on Thursday June 12 at 6.30pm, as acclaimed Irish journalist, author, and migration activist Fintan Drury joins award-winning writer Mary Costello in conversation.

The event will centre around Drury’s compelling and timely new book, Catastrophe: Nakba II, recently published by Merrion Press. In this urgent and thought-provoking work, Drury offers a moving and incisive analysis of the decades-long oppression of the Palestinian people by the state of Israel.

The book draws a direct line between the original Nakba – or ‘Catastrophe’ – which took place between 1947 and 1949, and the current crisis unfolding in real time. During the first Nakba, over 15,000 Palestinians were killed and more than 700,000 were forcibly displaced from their homeland. Today, Drury argues, we are witnessing a second Nakba – a humanitarian catastrophe happening before the world’s eyes.

Catastrophe: Nakba II is available to order in-store and online at www.omahonys.ie.
