New Cathaoirleach for Newcastle West Municipal District

FIANNA Fáil councillor Michael Collins was elected as Cathaoirleach of the Newcastle West Municipal District at the area AGM.

Cllr Collins, who succeeds Cllr Liam Galvin (FG) as Cathaoirleach, is a long-serving representative for the Newcastle West Local Electoral Area, bringing extensive experience to the role, having previously served as Mayor of Limerick City and County from 2020 to 2021.

He has also previously held the position of Cathaoirleach of the Newcastle West Municipal District on three other occasions.

Another former Mayor of Limerick City and County (2022 – 2023), Cllr Francis Foley (FF) has been elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Newcastle West Municipal District.
