Castletroy hosts famous Scratch Cup

Eimear Costelloe (Trade Electric), Declan O’Dalaigh (Men’s Club Captain), and Bernard Callanan (Men’s Club President) at the launch the 2025 Castletroy Senior Scratch Cup.

RESPLENDENT Castletroy GC will host its long-running Men’s Senior Scratch Cup (36 holes) on Sunday next (9am) onwards.

First played in 1948, the prize (Major HK Murray Cup) is one of the oldest and most prestigious of its kind in Ireland.

Last year’s winner, former Irish International and 2007 Irish Close champion Paul O’Hanlon (Carton House), has confirmed his entry for the 2025 edition.

The roll of honour features seven Walker Cup representatives in John Burke, Jimmy Bruen, Max McCready, JB Carr, Tom Craddock, David Sheahan and James Sugrue, as well as successful professionals Liam
