FOOD giant Nestlé has put a €22million asking price on its Wyeth Nutritional’s infant formula plant in Askeaton.
The plant is due to close next spring with up to 600 job losses expected as a result.
News of the closure was first announced in October 2023 with the company recording a pre-tax loss of €460.3m that year.
The announcement came as a major blow, with promises from government to “leave no stone unturned” in supporting Wyeth workers.
The facility is located immediately north of the N69, 22km west of Limerick City, and occupies land with frontage onto the River Deel.
Plans are approved to link Askeaton and Foynes Port to the Adare Bypass, currently under construction.
As seen on Daft.ie, the private sale is being conducted by Colliers, a professional services and investment management company.
The industrial unit occupies 39.5 acres of land with expansion lands of 35.8 acres.
It has local road frontage along the western boundary and the River Deel runs along the east.
The plant is divided to include three buildings – an R&D facility, main manufacturing and distribution building, and ancillary buildings to include a CHP plant and water treatment and waste water treatment plant.
This comprises of two-storey open plan administration offices, meeting rooms, staff canteen, reception, and changing areas.
Behind the offices are laboratories, workshops, and a bench top pilot plant, all arranged over two floors.
There is also a wet and dry processing area and a warehouse with a single dock leveller.
