EVAN Dando and The Lemonheads are releasing their first album of new material in 20 years, โ€˜Love Chant,โ€™ in late 2025.

The Lemonheads play Dolans Warehouse on Wednesday August 20.

Formed in Boston in 1986, The Lemonheads continue to rotate around the inimitable Evan Dando eclectic music fan, writer of infectious power pop, and renowned trouble maker.

The album โ€˜Hate Your Friendsโ€™ arrived in 1987, โ€œFrantic, fitfully exciting with occasional moments of brilliance,โ€ reckoned The Line Of Best Fit, while the following yearโ€™s โ€˜Creatorโ€™ was hailed in the NME as โ€œsome American box-bedroom rebel equivalents to The Smiths.โ€

Atlantic snapped up The Lemonheads in the flurry of activity that surrounded the arrival of grunge and, โ€œafter three โ€œramshackle punkโ€ (Select) albums, they released โ€œa treasure of an LP.โ€ NME in โ€˜Loveyโ€™, followed in 1992 by the breakthrough platter โ€˜Itโ€™s A Shame About Rayโ€™ with the crossover single โ€˜Mrs Robinsonโ€™ that catapulted Evan into the pages of Interview, Sassy and People magazines.
