A VERY special Limerick businesswoman is being honoured in a new exhibition of works by her artist daughter at the Limerick Museum.
‘In Honour of Sarah‘ is being staged by Grace Roberts, dedicated to her beloved mother, the late Sarah Roberts, who ran the Treasure Chest antique shop on Mallow Street in the heart of Limerick City for many years.
Grace said that her late mother “never got to see my work in an exhibition, which is something I feel a little sad about—I know she would have loved every minute of the opening”.
She said that her new show “is the closest I can get her there”.
“There’s also a lovely resonance with the museum setting — she had such an appreciation for old things and quality things, and she loved Limerick Lace, so it feels like the perfect place to show work made in her memory,” Grace said.
The exhibition of paintings runs until the end of June.
Known for her evocative use of symbolism, layered textures, and flowing organic forms, Roberts creates artworks that explore memory, ancestral connection, and transformation.
In this contemplative body of work, she invites viewers to consider the unseen threads that connect generations and the quiet presence of those who came before us.
According to the artist, the exhibition “is both personal and universal. It’s a reflection on how the stories of those who came before us are always with us — sometimes hidden, but always present.”
