LIMERICK City and County Council has unveiled its new summer tourism initiative, ‘Great Days Out’, inviting locals and visitors alike to rediscover the magic of Limerick through unforgettable day trips and experiences.

The Council’s new campaign highlights Limerick’s ‘different kind of energy’ with four key themes – great for adventure, great for foodies, great for culture, and great for family fun.

As part of the campaign, curated itineraries and insider tips will be shared across Limerick City and County Council’s social media platforms, helping people plan their perfect Great Day Out.

Summer 2025 will also see the return of the August Animations, an initiative led by Mayor John Moran, offering free use of designated streets in the city centre for community-led events and activities throughout the month of August.

Mayor Moran said that “from arts to food and adventure, Limerick has a contagious energy”.

“The ‘Great Days Out’ campaign, alongside our August Animations, is about giving people the space and inspiration to enjoy it all. Many residents will not be travelling away this summer. We want to make sure they know how much fun it can be to stay at home too.”

Director General of Limerick City and County Council, Dr Pat Daly, added: “We’re inviting everyone to rediscover Limerick this summer. Whether you’re a local or visiting from nearby, there’s never been a better time to enjoy all the incredible experiences Limerick has to offer.”
