AN historic Tailteann Cup final is on the horizon for Limerick following a brilliant 2-18 to 1-17 defeat of Wicklow in the weekend semi-final at Croke Park.
Jimmy Lee’s side trailed by a grim seven points at the three-quarter mark, but produced a stunning finish to win a tilt with Kildare at the same venue on July 12.
The bench proved to be the springboard to success, with impact substitutes Rob Childs (Galtee Gaels), Barry Coleman (Rathkeale), and Monaleen’s Darragh Murray all landed big scores.
In this period, goalkeeper and Man of the Match Josh Ryan boomed over a couple of two-pointer frees either side of a marvellous penalty save.
A lovely goal from Danny Neville helped Limerick to a narrow 1-7 to 0-9 half-time lead.
