A MAN was being questioned by Gardaí in connection with an investigation into a serious assault in Limerick five years ago.
The man was arrested in an early morning planned Garda operation in the St Mary’s Park area on Tuesday (June 24).
Gardaí would not say what specific investigation the man was being questioned about for “operational reasons”.
A Garda spokesperson said that “Gardaí in Limerick City have arrested a man, Tuesday 24th June 2025, in relation to an ongoing investigation into an incident of assault which occurred in Limerick in 2020.”

The man detained at a Garda Station in Limerick under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
