FINE Gael councillor Liam Galvin has sought an update from the Council on the Flood Relief Scheme for Abbeyfeale at the Mart bridge towards the rear of the soccer field.
Cllr Galvin was informed at the June meeting of the Newcastle West district that a scheme viability review was requested in response to Storm Bert in November 2024.
Following the request, the OPW said that the Council can introduce localised flood mitigation measures in Abbeyfeale with 90 per cent funding from the Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme.
Applications are considered for projects that are estimated to cost not more than €750,000.
