LABOUR councillor Joe Leddin has quizzed the Council on progress with the removal of outdated street and traffic directional signage, including the former digital signs along with the cleaning of all relevant signage.

Cllr Leddin was informed at June’s Metropolitan District meeting that a city centre signage decluttering project was completed by the local authority in December 2023, resulting in the removal of 50 street signs.

In addition, as part of the 30km per hour speed limit for the city centre in 2024, existing signage infrastructure was repurposed to reflect the new speed limit.

The Council said that it continues to monitor existing traffic related signage to ensure accuracy.
