A PAN American Airways flight landed in Shannon after retracing the Flying Boat routes between New York and Foynes of the 1930s and 40s.

After more than 30 years, a Pan American Airways Boeing 757-200 ‘Yankee Clipper 11’ landed at Shannon Airport having flown between New York, Bermuda, Marseilles, Lisbon, London, before finally reaching Shannon last Wednesday (June 25) for a historic visit to Foynes.

The ‘Tracing the Atlantic’ flight, hosted by Pan Am CEO Craig Carter, was celebrated during a visit to the Foynes Flying Boat Museum on Thursday last (June 26).
