Gardaí and Defence Forces investigating suspicious device in Foynes

The new recruits are expected to be visible "within the next two weeks".

GARDAÍ sealed off a premises near Foynes, in west County Limerick, this Friday following the discovery of a suspicious unexplained device.

Gardaí requested the services of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit attached to the Defence Forces to provide assistance at the scene.

A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are currently in attendance at a premises near Foynes, County Limerick, following the discovery of an unexplained device this afternoon, Friday 4th July 2025”.

“A cordon has been established and the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is at the scene.
