GARDAร appealed for information after a gunshot was allegedly fired at a familyโ€™s home in a suspected connection to a violent feud between Traveller families from Limerick and Cork.

Gardaรญ said they โ€œreceived a report of the alleged discharge of a firearm at a residenceโ€ on Sunday July 6.

The gunshot was allegedly fired at a home on the Charleville Road, Kilmallock, County Limerick, just after noon on Sunday.

Gardaรญ said that โ€œno damage to property or injuries were reportedโ€.

Appealing for the publicโ€™s assistance in their investigation, a Garda spokeswoman said that โ€œGardaรญ are appealing to anyone who may have information โ€ฆ to contact Bruff Garda Station on 061 382 940, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda stationโ€.

Extra Garda patrols, including the armed Garda Regional Support Unit, have been stepped up in the Kilmallock area following the latest incident.

Last May, a car was rammed off a road in Kilmallock and attacked by masked men armed with implements who smashed the windows in the crashed vehicle.

Gardaรญ intercepted vehicles carrying groups of men armed with slash hooks and other weapons the same month.

The feuding has been escalating since last year, including a number gun attacks, arsons, and criminal damage at homes and vehicles in Kilmallock and Charleville.

Last August, Charleville parish priest Canon Donal Oโ€™Mahony called on the feuding families to end the cycle of violence.

โ€œI say turn back to the Lord, first of all, and try and find a way forward that will be peaceful and respectful of others,โ€ he beseeched.

โ€œViolence begets violence, and thatโ€™s always a worry. That can escalate if people are not careful.โ€

Videos have also surfaced online in recent days of men calling out individuals and informing them they are โ€œdead men walkingโ€.
