LIMROCKERS Dylan Flynn and the Dead Poets will release their anthemic new single
‘Forgiveness Is A Gun’ on Wednesday July 16. The track comes from the band’s forthcoming EP, set for release this October.
Fresh from supporting The Darkness on their recent Irish tour, the band continues to gain momentum following a breakout year that saw sold-out shows across the UK and Ireland. Their biggest UK and Irish headline tour is set for November – details to be announced soon.
With features on over ten major Spotify playlists – including New Music Friday, Alternative Ireland, Hot New Bands and more – the band’s presence is steadily growing both at home and abroad.
Their latest single, ‘Forgiveness Is A Gun’, is a driving, anthemic blend of indie-rock energy and Americana songwriting. Lyrically, the track tells the story of a man wrestling with imposter syndrome in a relationship – haunted by the belief he doesn’t deserve the love he’s found. Musically, it’s packed with dynamic drums, hooky saxophone lines, and soaring vocals, evoking shades of 1970s Springsteen or The War On Drugs – with a contemporary twist that recalls The 1975.
“Left it all on the table, a drunken confession / The truth and the lies are a curse and a blessing…”
Frontman Flynn explains:
“I spent some time in Nashville earlier this year, and this song came out of my first experience co-writing. It made me realise the power of just saying what you’re actually feeling. I still love writing poetically, but with this one, I wanted to be very direct.”
The track was recorded in the band’s home studio in Limerick with long-time collaborator Mike Gavin (Windings) and mastered by Richard Dowling.
