LOCAL soccer fans have another home double to look forward to this weekend.
On Friday, 7.45pm, Treaty United entertain fierce rivals Cobh Ramblers in the Men’s First Division at the Markets Field and the following night (7.35pm) the same venue will host the televised (TG4) clash of Treaty and Shamrock Rovers in the Women’s Premier Division.
Tommy Barrett’s team come into the tie after a 1-1 draw away to UCD.
The visitors’ goal came from Lee Devitt, his 14th of the season.
Treaty and Cobh have met twice already this season with Cobh emerging as victors on both occasions.
Having bowed out of the All-Island Cup last week at the hands of Shelbourne, Sean Russell will be hoping his side can return to winning ways against Rovers.
This will be the second meeting between the sides with Rovers running out 4-1 winners when the teams met in Tallaght Stadium, despite Treaty taking the lead through captain Jillian O’Toole.
Along with all the action on the pitch, Treaty United will be using the weekend to celebrate its academy developments and achievements. On Saturday, prior to the Senior Women’s game, players and coaches from all 6 Academy teams and the Treaty United Leadership team will be present at the Markets Field for a photo-shoot and get-together.
Also in attendance will be participants in our Youth Programmes with Treaty Software as title sponsor for our Youth Programmes.
