A LIMERICK man, who a local court heard was extradited back to his native Ireland from the United Kingdom last month, appeared before the Limerick District Court on charges of false imprisonment and assault.
James O’Sullivan, with an address at Hazel Avenue, Dromcollogher, County Limerick, appeared via video link before Judge Carol Anne Coolican at Limerick District Court this past Tuesday (July 8).
The 25-year-old Limerick man was extradited from the UK on June 25 and arrested by Gardaà before being charged.
Mr O’Sullivan appeard before Limerick District Court accused of one count of false imprisonment of a man, contrary to Section 15 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.
The false imprisonment is alleged to have occurred at Croom, County Limerick, on January 6, 2023.
Mr O’Sullivan is also charged with assaulting a man contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, at Croom, County Limerick, on the same date.
Mr O’Sullivan did not speak while appearing before the court this Tuesday, except to confirm that he could see and hear the proceedings via the court video link.
No evidence in respect of the charges against Mr O’Sullivan has been heard yet before the court.
The court was earlier informed that the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed Mr O’Sullivan face a trial on indictment.
A plea or a book of evidence for trial is awaited in the case.
Judge Coolican remanded Mr O’Sullivan in continuing custody to appear before Limerick District Court again on July 22.
