Limerick players scoring Stateside

ADAM English and Chris Thomas of Limerick Senior Hurling Champions Doon both scored for Galway Boston during last weekend’s defeat, 1-30 to 1-17, of Fr Tom Burkes in the Northeast Senior Championship Final in Canton.

English hit the opening point, while defender Thomas did likewise in the closing half.

The pair are among several from around who have opted for a spell in the United States before the commencement of the local championship over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Among the impressive performers for Burkes were Mark Quinlan (Garryspillane), Jimmy Quilty (Blackrock), and Kilmallock’s Shane O’Brien, scorer of 1-4.

Boston led 1-17 to 0-10 at the interval.

The game’s outstanding individual was Shane Meehan of Clare.

Later in the month, the likes of Cathal O’Neill (Crecora/Manister) and Effin’s Patrick O’Donovan will be involved in San Francisco.
