New playground will ‘bring joy to Limerick families for generations to come’

Limerick-based company, McSweeney Sports Surfaces constructed the playground, which includes log fencing and natural play logs sourced from Curraghchase Forest Park.

AN EXCITING new amenity opened in Limerick last week (July 10) with the official launch of the Southill Play Space.

Opened by Limerick and County Council Prรญomh Chomhairleoir Cllr Catherine Slattery, the new playground is a celebration of community spirit designed to bring joy to families and children for generations to come.

Limerick-based company, McSweeney Sports Surfaces constructed the playground, which includes log fencing and natural play logs sourced from Curraghchase Forest Park.

This is one of several key planned sports and recreation facilities for the area and initial design has commenced on a planned multi-use games area.

The project was funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage, under the Limerick Regeneration Framework Implementation Plan.
