IN HIS own words, manager Tommy Barrett acknowledges that Treaty United are outsiders against Derry City this Friday night’s glamour FAI Cup tie at the Markets Field Stadium (kick-off 7.45pm).
The sides have met just once before, back in October 2022, at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium in the semi-final of this competition.
It was an outing in which the home side prevailed.
“We’ll obviously go into the game as underdogs but the last time we played them we pushed them all the way so, hopefully, we’ll do that again,” Barrett said.
“It’s disappointing to be missing the experience of Lee-J (Lynch) and Karl (O’Sullivan) for this game but we’ve been playing well and defending quite well. We can’t go into the game too negatively; we’ve got to pick and choose our moments to play on the front foot, defend properly and be clinical whenever we get a chance.”
Treaty come into the game on a high following an excellent League victory over Cobh Ramblers at the Markets Field.
On Saturday, Junior Cup winners Fairview Rangers host Shelbourne (6pm).
