Funeral arrangements announced for ‘beautiful young mother gone too soon’

FUNERAL arrangements have been announced for a young mother of one who was found dead at a hotel in Limerick City this past Wednesday night (July 16).

The deceased, Clodagh Ferguson, of Mill Road, Corbally, Limerick City, was pronounced dead following a medical emergency at the Clayton Hotel on Steamboat Quay in Limerick City on Wednesday night.

Condolences have flooded in across the past few days, with mourners describing Ms Ferguson as “a beautiful young mother gone too soon”.

Others said they were “absolutely shocked” by the tragic sudden death, adding “so young, what a loss”.

It’s understood Ms Ferguson’s body was found by emergency services inside a room at the Clayton Hotel.

Gardaí said that local officers “assisted emergency services with a medical emergency” at around 10.20pm on Wednesday night, adding that the deceased was “pronounced deceased by ambulance personnel”.

A post-mortem was conducted and Gardaí do not suspect foul play in Ms Ferguson’s death.

Ms Ferguson’s family stated in an online notice that “it is with broken hearts we announce the death of our beloved and cherished Clodagh Ferguson, Meadowbrook, Mill Road, Corbally, Limerick, on July 16th 2025, unexpectedly”.

The notice stated that Ms Ferguson’s remains would repose at Cross’s Funeral Home, Gerald Griffin Street, on Monday (July 21) from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Ms Ferguson’s funeral mass will take place at 1pm at St John’s Cathedral followed by cremation at Shannon Crematorium.

The Ferguson family requested no flowers, but suggested donations, if desired, could be made to Adapt House.

“To respect the family’s wishes at this time, the house is strictly private at all times,” the notice read.

Since her tragic death, hundreds of people have posted tributes and condolences to Ms Ferguson across social media, describing the late mother as “the nicest and most caring girl you could meet, always had a smile on her face and always laughing”.

Paying tribute, another mourner wrote: “Fly high and free, condolences to her family give them strength at this sad time just heart breaking.”

“All you ever wanted was a peaceful life for you and your boy, watch over him my girl until we meet again,” another wrote.

One friend wrote: “Rest in peace gorgeous girl. Thinking of your little boy and your family at this time, so heartbreaking.”

Another stated: “I hope you have found peace and that your little boy and family have the strength to get through this heartbreaking time.”

“Rest in peace with the angels. My condolences to your family friends and relatives. May God watch over them all,” another wrote.

Another mourner described Ms Ferguson as “another angel gone too soon”.

Ms Ferguson is survived by her mother Sonia, son Dylan, Dylan’s father Dominic, sisters Allida and Abi, and grandparents Ann and Tom O’Halloran and Chris Ferguson.
