LOCAL interest in the FAI Cup ended over the weekend as Limerick’s representatives, Treaty United and Fairview Rangers, were both beaten by Derry City and Shelbourne, respectively.

At the Marketโ€™s Field, Derry were worthy 5-1 winners and at Singland Park, Shelbourne too were deserving of their 4-0 victory.

In Garryowen, there were no goals in a cagey opening half but the floodgates opened on the restart.

A highlight was a hat trick from Liam Boyce.

Lee Devitt grabbed an 80thย minute goal for Tommy Barrettโ€™s side.

At a lively Singland Park, the Champions League-bound visitors were much better than our worthy ambassadors.
