30 people will be turning up in Roches Street this Thursday to start new jobs with the opening of Limerick’s latest multinational supermarket offering.
ALDI Roches Street will become the retailer’s fourth store in Limerick City and the first to open in the city centre after it opens its doors on Thursday, July 24.
Store manager Ian Dawson knows his customer base very well, being a local lad and Limerick through and through.
“I’m a proud Limerick local and I’m thrilled to see this new store added to the city centre offering – hopefully, helping to draw more people back into the heart of the city,” he said.
“I went to secondary school just around the corner from our new store so I know first-hand what a great community this is and I’m excited to be part of something that will serve it so well.”
When he’s not keeping a close eye on stocks and shelves, Ian enjoys swimming, “and of course, I’m a big fan of Limerick hurling. The last few years have been brilliant for Limerick and hopefully we’ll be back competing for the Liam McCarthy again next year,” he said.
Ian started with Aldi in 2011 as a store assistant. Over the past 14 years, he’s worked in various locations across Limerick, Tipperary, and Clare, as an assistant store manager and now store manager.
As well as the ALDI Irish and fresh model, customers in Roches Street can look forward to freshly baked bread and sweet treats daily at their in-store bakery.
Speaking ahead of the store’s opening, Ian said: “We’ve created 30 new jobs at our Roches Street store. My team and I are proud to continue ALDI’s long-standing commitment to the communities we serve and can’t wait to welcome customers through our doors.”
