AS flagged here recently, the world title fight (IBF Welterweight Belt) between Limerick’s Paddy ‘The Real Deal’ Donovan and Lewis Crocker will take place at Belfast’s Windsor Park Stadium.
Crocker is from Belfast.
The crown was previously held by Jaron Ennis who has since moved up a division, hence the vacancy.
The date for the all-island bout is confirmed as Saturday September 13.
In March, Crocker ‘defeated’ Donovan (26) in controversial fashion in a final eliminator for the title, in front of a huge crowd of 8,000, again in the hometown of Crocker (The SSE Arena).
An appeal from Donovan’s team resulted in the granting of this world title fight.
Donovan is one of 10 children and was trained from a young age by his dad Martin, and later at Our Lady of Lourdes Saint Saviour’s BC in the heart of Limerick.
He is currently under the guidance of Castleconnell’s Andy Lee, the former WBO middleweight champion.
Donovan is managed by Keith Sullivan.
