Favourites Garryspillane were clear-cut 1-21 to 0-12 winners over South Liberties in Bruff.
Bryan Heavey (1-5) and Hugh Flanagan (0-7) were significant figures for The Bouncers.
Elsewhere, Cian OโCarroll hit a massive 1-12 as newcomers Croagh Kilfinny surprised Effin, 1-21 to 0-19.
In Knocklong, Blackrock were snug 1-19 to 0-15 victors over Bruff.
Itโs interesting to note that the victors here have Jimmy Quilty as player-manager, who for good measure knocked over a couple of frees.
The Rockies had Colm OโKeeffe (1-5) as top scorer.
Also off to a good start are Granagh Ballingarry, who squeezed out Glenroe, 1-18 to 0-19, at Kilmallockโs Fitzgerald Park.
A timely goal from Seรกnย OโConnor (1-3) at the dawn of the closing quarter was key to the win for the west side.
