
LIMERICK City and County Council has announced its intention to carry out a sweep of compulsory purchase orders (CPO) at a number of properties across the county.
The Council, in one day, published its intention to carry out seven CPOs in the ongoing battle against dereliction throughout the county. The notices of intention include five properties in Limerick City, one in Newcastle West, and one in Cappamore.
Each property is described by the Council as being โin a state of derelictionโ.
The properties listed in the notices of intention in Limerick City include: a four-story over basement mixed use premises at 10 Sarsfield Street; a two-storey home at 10 Saint Columcille Street, Saint Mary’s Park; a two-storey commercial premises at 43 Nicholas Street; a dormer-style dwelling at 2 Rosbrien Terrace, Rosbrien Road; and a two-storey mid terrace at 47 Windmill Street.
Notices of intention were also published for a two-storey dwelling at 11 Saint Mary’s Terrace in Cappamore and a dormer-style home at Lower Knockane Road in Newcastle West.
The notices state that โThe Derelict Sites Act, 1990 (as amended by the Planning and Development Act, 2000), provides that if an objection is made to the proposed compulsory acquisition of a derelict site and the objection is not withdrawn, the derelict site shall not be acquired compulsorily by the local authority without the consent of An Coimisiรบn Pleanรกlaโ.
Objections to the proposed compulsory purchase orders – by owners, lessees, or occupants โ can be lodged to the local authority at the property management services department in writing before August 29.
