SHANNON Airport has scored a hat trick retaining its position as the country’s top airport brand for the third consecutive year, according to the RED C Brand Reaction Index (BRI) Ireland 2025.
The newly released index, which lists the top 176 most “emotionally connected” brands, shows Shannon Airport placed at number 48, up three places on last year’s list and once again at the top spot for an airport brand in the country.
CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, Mary Considine, said the Shannon team are “absolutely delighted to be recognised as Ireland’s top airport brand for a third year running”.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our loyal passengers โ not just for choosing to fly Shannon, but for recognising what we work so hard to deliver every day: great value, accessibility, convenience, and comfort. Our fantastic teams across Shannon Airport consistently go the extra mile.”
RED C conducted the BRI test on 176 brands across 21 sectors across the month of June. The Index uses facial expressions as shortcuts for emotions to determine which brands have the strongest emotional connection with Irish consumers.
Meanwhile, Shannon Airport welcomed the publication of Irelandia’s Pathfinder for Aviation report, which affirms Shannon’s pivotal role in shaping the future of Irish and global aviation.
“This report is timely as we continue to look for an urgent review of National Aviation Policy. The report recognises that advancing aviation will be a key enabler for growth in the Irish economy,” Ms Considine said.
“We are particularly pleased to see Shannon Airport identified as a key location for growth in areas such as MRO, sustainable aviation, and transatlantic connectivity. These are areas where we already have strong foundations and significant potential to lead.”
The report calls for the development of a world-class aircraft engine overhaul facility centred at Shannon, alongside incentives such as reduced Council rates for airside hangars and a significant expansion of aviation apprenticeships.
Irelandia envisions a European sustainable aviation campus at Shannon, offering support for green aviation innovators, co-working spaces, test flight infrastructure, and an annual international conference. The report also proposes establishing a SAF refinery near the Shannon Estuary.
“This vision aligns with our commitment to innovation and sustainability, and also is aligned with the Programme for Government’s commitment to support Shannon Airport as a hub for testing new aviation technologies,” Ms Considine added.
“The Estuary is uniquely positioned to support Ireland’s transition to sustainable fuels. This could be transformative for both the region and the industry.”
