TWO years out from its historic hosting of the 2027 Ryder Cup, policing support has been promised for Adare, County Limerick.
That’s according to the latest local bulletin circulated throughout out Adare and the surrounding regions, in which Superintendent Michael Flemming explains that a dedicated Garda Sergeant is to be appointed to the County Limerick Town “in the very near future”.
“An Garda Síochána are committed to supporting our communities not only during the (Ryder Cup) event but also in the lead-up to it. I am delighted to confirm that a dedicated Sergeant will be appointed to Adare in the very near future,” Superintendent Flemming said.
“This is a significant development and will ensure that the Adare community are well served in terms of policing service.”
Anticipating a further policing boost ahead of the prestigious golf tournament, Superintendent Flemming said he was “focused on increasing the current number of gardaí in Adare and will work to allocate a further Garda member in the coming months”.
“I am also conscious of the need to support the business community in Adare, and I am therefore pleased to confirm I have appointed a separate Sergeant to commence engagement with all local businesses with a view to establishing a Businness Watch Scheme in the town.
“I want to take this opportunity to reassure the community that planning for this event is already well advanced and key elements such as security, traffic management, and crowd control are to the fore in our thinking.”
