LIMERICKโS quest for a first Munster Senior Football Championship title in 130 years has been made all the more difficult following a decision taken at a Provincial Council meeting.
At the gathering of county representatives in Limerick, a proposal that the highest two ranking teams from the National Leagues be placed on opposite sides of the Munster semi-final draw was ratified for a three-year period.
It will come into effect next year.
Those two seeded teams are All-Ireland winners Kerry and Cork.
On occasions, it had been the case that the โbig twoโ were placed on opposite sides of the championship.
Limerickโs only success in the championship came way back in 1896.
The county has lost a heartbreaking 14 finals, the most recent of which was in 2022.
Kerry lead the Roll of Honour with 89 wins, followed by Cork (37),ย Tipperary (10), Clare (2) and Limerick/Waterford (1).
