LIMERICK-Zimbabwean rapper God Knows has unveiled his latest single, ‘Misplaced Empathy’, a raw and introspective track marking the third release from his forthcoming debut solo album, A Future of the Past, set for release on September 26 via narolane records.
The single delves into themes of personal growth, accountability, and self-awareness. “‘Misplaced Empathy’ is about reflecting on how far I’ve come, acknowledging my blessings, and taking responsibility for my missteps,” the artist shared. “It felt freeing to write – I hope it’s freeing to listen to.”
A Future of the Past represents a new chapter for the former Rusangano Family member, whose groundbreaking work on Let The Dead Bury The Dead earned the 2016 Choice Music Prize – the first hip-hop album to win the award. The upcoming album weaves together creative threads from Zimbabwe, New York, Dublin, Shannon, and West Africa, offering a bold and expansive sonic journey.
Produced by MuRli with guitar from Danny Latham, and co-written with Gift Madolo, ‘Misplaced Empathy’ is a striking preview of what promises to be one of the year’s most anticipated releases.
