LIMERICK City became a colourful living canvas this August Bank Holiday Monday during the Limerick Plein Air Festival.

Artists from across Ireland gathered for this vibrant celebration of open-air painting, turning the cityโ€™s streets and quays into a dynamic outdoor studio.

Founded and passionately organised by local artist Karina Guseva, the festival invited painters of all levels to capture Limerickโ€™s soul ‘en plein air’ (in the outdoors).

From the lively pedestrian buzz of Bedford Row to the serene reflections along Harveyโ€™s Quay, every corner of the Treaty City offered inspiration.

The dayโ€™s magic unfolded with more than over 50 fresh artworks created in just one day, each celebrating Limerickโ€™s beauty.

Artists shared techniques, stories, and a love for painting outdoors.

Passersby too became part of the creative process โ€” watching, chatting, and even taking home original pieces.

As the sun set, the festival culminated in aย pop-up exhibition on Bedford Row, where the public admired the dayโ€™s creations. Many works sold, proving that art born in the moment carries a special spark.

Festival organiser Karina Guseva said she is “still amazed” by the daylong festival.

“In just one Monday, our artists gave life to over 50 stunning works, each a love letter to Limerick. Seeing our cityโ€™s charm immortalised on so many canvases was magical.”
