THEREโS a novel meeting in round two of the IWP Limerick Senior Football Championship when holders Adare run up against newly promoted Rathkeale at Pรกirc na nGael, Askeaton on Friday (referee: Alan Kehoe).
In the opening round several weeks back, Adare whizzed past Fr Caseyโs while Rathkeale fell to Monaleen.
Harry Gleesonโs team are again predicted to collect the points on offer, particularly with such individuals as David Connolly, Eoghan Costello, Joe Sweeney, Paul Maher, Mikey Lyons, Shane OโConnor, and Jack English all in current top form.
For Rathkeale to cause a major upset, huge performances are needed from Bryan Meade, Dean Maune, Adam Shanagher, Barry Coleman, Paul White, Patrick Wilmott, and Mikey Morrissey.
Elsewhere in Group One, Eddie Cosgraveโs Monaleen are tipped to account for city rivals Na Piarsaigh in Claughaun on Thursday (referee: Jonathan Hayes), while last yearโs finalists Fr. Caseyโs will find it difficult to topple Oola in Adare on Saturday (referee: John OโHalloran).
In Group Two, Rathkealeโs Seรกn Finn Park hosts the attractive clash of strong dual outfits Kildimo Pallaskenry and Newcastle West on Friday (referee: Kieran Guina).
Both teams secured wins in round one, against Ballylanders and Mungret St Paulโs, respectively.
In what is certain to be a tight affair, Newcastle West are fancied to edge matters.
Elsewhere, Mungret St Paulโs can overcome Galtee Gaels in Hospital on Saturday (referee: Timmy McGrath) and simultaneously Ballylanders are likely to have the measure of St Kieranโs at Carroll Park, Ballyagran (referee: Michael Sexton).
All fixtures are timed for 7pm.
Round three is pencilled in for the weekend ending September 7.
The county final is listed for Mick Neville Park in early November.
In the Munster Championship, the Limerick winners will be away to the Kerry representatives at the semi-final stage.
