Limerick people can explore ‘power of the peatlands’ as part of Heritage Week

Now in its 25th year, National Heritage Week is Irelandโ€™s largest heritage festival, with over 2,000 events taking place annually, attended by almost 400,000 people.

THIS Heritage Week (August 16 to 24), those with a mind for the environment will have plenty to look forward to at the Griston Bog.

The โ€˜power of the peatlands in the fight against climate changeโ€™ will be explored in a free talk at the Ballyhoura Outdoor Classrooms at the Griston Bog in Ballylanders.

The talk, taking place from 1.30pm on August 23, will discuss connections between peatland and climate change, and how natural peatlands can play a powerful role in climate regulation, biodiversity, and water management.

It will also involve a guided walk through the Griston Bog. The event is free, but booking is required on tickettailor.com/events/corknaturenetwork.
