MAINTENANCE and enhancement works are ongoing in the Treaty City as part of Limerick City and County Councilโs commitment to creating โa more welcoming, vibrant, and enjoyable urban environment for residents and visitors alikeโ.
The Council said that the refurbishment works aim to support โa more enjoyable use of public spaces along the quaysโ and create โa more pleasant atmosphere for pedestrians and shoppersโ.
The Council is also replanting raised flowerbeds on O’Connell Street this month. With works now largely completed, these flowerbeds, the local authority said, will beautify the streetscape and contribute to biodiversity in the city centre, โbringing fresh colour and life to one of our busiest thoroughfaresโ.
The repainting of park benches in Arthur’s Quay Park is also underway, with the Councilโs aim being to bring โa cleaner, brighter, and more polished look to the parkโ.
The local authority is also re-introducing picnic benches by Shannon Bridge, which will offer locals and visitors โa scenic riverside locationโ for โoutdoor dining, socialising, or simply taking in the viewโ.
Also included in the plans is โregular washingโ of Bedford Row, and railing replacements for Sarsfield Bridge which will offer greater safety while also โpreserving the bridgeโs historic characterโ.
Roundabout cleaning has also commenced to improve visibility, safety, and overall appearance for motorists and pedestrians.
These works are currently ongoing at roundabouts at Vistakon, Kilmurray, Castletroy Park, Garryglass, Tipperary Road, Kilmallock Road, Roxboro Road, Coonagh, Clondrinagh, and all three roundabouts on the Dock Road.
