THREE horses were sized by Limerick City and County Council in one day in Castleconnell.
That’s according to a statement from the local authority confirming that a two-year-old bay male, a three-year-old dun male Shetland, and a two-year-old grey male were seized from the Scanlon Park area of Castleconnell on August 4.
Separately, a horse and a donkey were seized from the Sharwood Estate in Newcastle West on August 7.
According to the Council statement, the owners or keepers of the abandoned animals are not known.
Abandoned horses seized by the local authority, if not claimed by their owner or keeper within five days, are re-homed to shelters outside of Limerick in accordance with the 1996 Control of Horses Act.
