ALL of the hard work and sleepless nights have paid off for Limerick students as they receive their Leaving Certificate exam results today (Friday August 22).
Thousands of students across the county received the much-anticipated results this Friday morning, with results available to view via an online portal since 10am.
Results have fallen this year across the country with reports of grade deflation following five years of predicted grading due to the pandemic.
The number of students achieving H1s is down by 2.6 per cent compared to last year, and the number of O1s handed out down by 2.1 per cent.
Congratulating students nationwide, ASTI President Padraig Curley says the class of 2025 “have achieved an important milestone in your lives”.
“I advise you to stay calm and take time to explore your many options over the coming days and weeks. Even if you do not receive your dream CAO choice, know that life has a habit of offering meaningful pathways,” Mr Curley said.
“Talk to your school, your guidance counsellor and your family. Know that the skills, experiences, and resilience you have developed in the last number of years will stand to you as you move to the next phase of your lives.”
Students will be able to access a more detailed breakdown of their grades from 12 noon on Tuesday (August 26) on the State examinations website, where they will be able to review how they were marked for each component of the exam.
An application for students to view their scripts will also open from 5pm on the same day, and will close at 8pm on Wednesday (August 27).
Students will then be assigned to one of two three-hour sessions on August 30 between 9.30am to 12.30pm from 2-5pm to view their scripts online to review their exams and how they were marked.
If a student is unhappy with a result and wants to appeal the mark they received, they can do so online from August 31 until September.
Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science, James Lawless TD congratulated students as they received their Leaving Certificate exam results.
“I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to all students who received their Leaving Certificate results today. This a moment to be proud of, marking the culmination of years of hard work, learning, and personal growth. Today is not just about results, but about recognising the journey and the support of families, teachers, and school communities,” Minister Lawless said.
The Irish Second-Level Students’ Union President Preston ร Caoimh is also urging students to remember the supports available to them as they decide their next steps.
“Remember: your grades don’t define you. What matters most is the resilience, effort, and the growth it took to get here. There are so many different ways forward. Whether you’re starting an apprenticeship, entering the workforce, moving on to further or higher education, or exploring alternative routes, each pathway is valuable and each deserves to be celebrated,” he said.
Students can also contact the free and confidential Leaving Certificate Helpline, which is run by the Institute of Guidance Counsellors on 1800 265 165 or text GUIDANCE to 086 1800 685 to connect with trained counsellors who can listen and help.
