Increase in funding for open spaces grant scheme

THE Council has seen an increase in funding allocations under the Maintenance of Open Spaces Grant Scheme to date in 2025 โ€” up โ‚ฌ14,000 on 2024 to โ‚ฌ55,226 this year.

The annual scheme allows communities to apply to the Council for a maintenance grant for their respective green spaces.

There were 55 grants paid to date this year.

In response to a question from Fine Gael councillor Dan McSweeney, councillors learned the breakdown included 17 community groups in Metropolitan District with an average allocation of โ‚ฌ1,034; nine community groups in Adare Rathkeale with an average allocation of โ‚ฌ1,069; 15 community groups in Cappamore Kilmallock with an average allocation of โ‚ฌ1,010; and 13 community groups in Newcastle West District with an average allocation of โ‚ฌ1,012.
