ARMED Gardaí swooped on a home in Kilmallock and seized a number of items, believed to be weapons, as part of a crackdown on feuding factions based in the area.
A vicious and violent feud, which has erupted several times over the past year, is ongoing between rival groups in Kilmallock and Charleville, North Cork.
Gardaí said that, “as part of ongoing investigations in the Limerick Division, Gardaí executed a search warrant at a residence in Kilmallock, County Limerick, on the morning of Wednesday 30th July 2025. A number of items were seized by Gardaí in the course of the search operation.”
Gardai said that no arrests were made during the search of the home and that their “investigations are ongoing”.
On July 7 last, Gardaí investigating the feuding appealed for information after a gunshot was reportedly fired at a home located on the Charleville Road in Kilmallock shortly after midnight on July 6.
No injuries were reported from the shooting.
Last May, a car was rammed off the road at Kilmallock and the vehicle and occupants attacked by masked men armed with weapons.
Later, Gardaí intercepted vehicles carrying groups of men armed with slash hooks and other weapons.
Extra Garda patrols, including the armed Garda Regional Support Unit, have been deployed to the County Limerick town on a number of occasions in response to the feuding.
Tensions between the rival groups have escalated since 2024 resulting in a number of gun attacks, arsons, and assorted episodes of criminal damage and violence.
Speaking late last year, Charleville parish priest, Canon Donal O’Mahony, called on the feuding factions to end the cycle of violence.
“I say turn back to the Lord, first of all, and try and find a way forward from that, that will be peaceful and respectful of others,” said Canon O’Mahony.
“Violence begets violence, and that’s always a worry, really. That can escalate if people are not careful.”
Some of the violence has been recorded on mobile phones and shared on social media.
The feud has also involved men appearing in videos, which are then shared on social media, calling out individuals and informing them they are “dead men walking”.
