LIAM Chawke, Rathkeale, finished within a whisker of a podium finish in the opening Supertwin Race of the 20225 Manx Grand Prix in the Isle of Man.
The three-lap contest over a 60km Mountain Course was won by Lewis Arrowsmith of England, who was followed home by fellow countryman Toby Shann (2nd) and Jamie Williams, Isle of Man, (3rd), with Chawke a very close fourth.
Although in contention for a podium place for much of the race as part of the three-handed battle for third with Shann and Williams, Chawke had to eventually settle for a creditable fourth.
Chawke, who clocked speeds of 110mph throughout, was at one point (lap 2) just 0.06 of a second off Williams.
Eventually, fourth place, but inches from glory: a ride that screamed determination.
In summary, Chawke was happy with his performance; he gave his best and thoroughly enjoyed racing a pristine machine across the Mountain Course.
Among those he thanked were Jack Reid Cars and KMR Kawasaki for their Supertwin.
โIt was an absolute joy to race thanks for all the help and support,โ he said.
Team Chawkie (bothers Liam and James) are ambassors with Boss-E Racing.
