SHANNON Airport is the most popular airport in Ireland when it comes to private jet traffic, it has been reported.
The rich and famous have chosen the western gateway airport as their go-to when looking to get away to Ireland on their private jets.
That’s according to a new study by premium travel agency Vacation Into Premium, which has dived into the private jet movements of 53 celebrities, includingย Bill Gates,ย Kylie Jenner,ย Tom Cruise, andย Elon Musk.
According to the company’s research,ย Ireland is in the top 10 most popular countries in the world for private jet landings and Shannon Airport had more private jets land than any other Irish airport last year in 2024.
The figures from Vacation Into Premium show that 21 high-flyers’ flights landed at Shannon Airport across last year, 47.6 per cent of all the private flights landing at Irish airports.
Ireland tied for 10th place with Sint Maarten, the exotic playground of those for whom money is no object.
The United Stats was by far the most active country for private jet landings across last year, recording over 5,200 flights in 2024, 63 times more private jet landings than France, which ranked secondย in the global ranking with 81 flights.
The most popular US airport for high-profile travellers was found to be Van Nuys Airport (VNY) in LA, attracting 6.6 per cent of the nation’s jet landings.
England secured third place with 77 landings. The data showed Luton Airport was the preferred landing spot, handling 38.96 per cent of all private flights to England.
