Three accomplished Limerick musicians will perform together for the first time in more than a decade when Mark P Oโ€™Connor, Ger Lane, and Donnacha Toomey take the stage at The Peopleโ€™s Museum of Limerick on Thursday August 28.

The intimate concert will be held in the Blue Room of the historic venue with doors opening at 8pm.

Donnacha Toomey brings his distinctive blend of fingerstyle guitar and what Hot Press describes as a โ€œrichly honeyed voiceโ€ to the evening. Following extensive performance experience across Ireland and Italy, Toomey established his solo career with the EPs Pedalboat (2003) and Reasons (2005).

His debut album Carnival of Colours (2009) launched a promotional tour that culminated at Electric Picnic, whilst his sophomore release Level Crossing (2012) featured the track โ€˜Nine Livesโ€™, familiar to listeners of RTร‰ Radio One and BBC. The Irish Times praised Toomeyโ€™s โ€œdappled jazz inflections, razor sharp melody and delightfully intricate guitar,โ€ whilst the Irish Examiner noted how he โ€œapproaches each tune with the confidence and grace of a master craftsman.โ€

Recently returned from London, singer-songwriter Ger Lane will perform songs from his latest release The New Revolution in Love in his first Limerick appearance in many years. Drawing inspiration from Talk Talk, Kate Bush, Talking Heads, and Arvo Pรคrt, Laneโ€™s work also reflects influences from Sufjan Stevens and minimalist William Basinski.

Lane formed the band Veneer with University of Limerick friends in the 1990s. Despite various lineup changes, their EPs and singles gained national airplay from Dave Fanning and John Kelly. The band won the inaugural Green Energy Festival in Dublin and supported notable acts including Whipping Boy and The Cranberries.

Actor and multi-instrumentalist Mark Oโ€™Connor completes the trio, bringing decades of experience from Limerickโ€™s music scene. With three solo albums – Actions (2002), Robinโ€™s Egg Blues (2007), and Espero (2011) – Oโ€™Connor has been a member of numerous local bands including Fingalโ€™s Cave, Veneer, and Moonboot.

His 2008 recording of Joni Mitchellโ€™s โ€˜Help Meโ€™ was recently featured on JoniMitchell.com.
