Limerick filling station reopens following arson attack

The Inver filling station on the Old Cork Road was closed for three months following the attack.

A COUNTY Limerick filling station has reopened after a large section of its shop premises was destroyed in an arson attack this past June.

The firebombing occurred at the Inver filling station and adjoining Spar shop at the Old Cork Road on June 2.

In a post on its Facebook account, Inver announced: โ€œWe’re pleased to welcome you back for fuel at Inver Limerick Old Cork Road.โ€

โ€œDiesel and unleaded only โ€ฆ 24/7 self-service pumps โ€ฆ Fuel cards accepted,โ€ it said.

Inver said its on-site shop โ€œremains temporarily closedโ€ and thanked customers โ€œfor your continued supportโ€.

Gardaรญ said this Thursday morning that no arrests have been made during the three-month arson probe.

โ€œInvestigations are ongoing,โ€ said a Garda spokeswoman.

The arson attack occurred at 3.30am on June 2, causing extensive damage to the business.

Firefighters attached to Limerick City and County Fire Service attended the fire and put out the blaze.

The scene was sealed off by Gardaรญ after emergency services responded to the scene and a forensic examination took place.

The forecourt was closed off to the public for the last three months.

A statement released by Gardaรญ following the attack said that โ€œGardaรญ and Fire Services were alerted to a fire at a premises on Old Cork Road, Limerick, shortly after 3.30am (on) 2nd June 2025. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.โ€

Gardaรญ said the premises was vacant at the time.

Gardaรญ were harvesting a CCTV hard-drive from the premises in the hope of identifying the perpetrators of the damaging attack.
